Body – Secrets to Abundant Health

Do Flies Cause the Garbage?

An excerpt from the book, A Clear Path to Healing by Dr. Barry S. Weinberg

Imagine you are walking through a beautiful grass field when suddenly you come across a large pile of garbage swarming with flies and other insects.

Looking at this picture, would you ever think that the flies are the cause of the garbage? Of course not. They are merely opportunists taking advantage of a free meal.

Why then do we believe that viruses and bacteria, or germs, are the cause of disease? Are they not like the flies? Just as the flies, germs are attracted to the body when there is "garbage in the field." To use antibiotics, vaccinations and other medications to kill the germs and heal disease is no different than using bug spray on the flies, believing that it will clean up the garbage.

When we get ill with fever, sore throat and other flu or cold symptoms, we must understand that we did not "get a bug" and then got sick. We were sick and attracted the bug. Therefore in order to heal and prevent disease, we must keep our field clean. That is one step on your clear path to healing.

Mind – The Mirror of Our World

STRESS – The Cause of HEALTH

In today’s hustle-bustle, cat and mouse, busy world we live in, the stress we experience is often the blame for the majority of ailments people suffer, such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity and many others. Yet it is not stress that causes these problems, or any problems, it is our response to the stress that determines the outcome.

The definition of a stress is a change in the outside environment that causes a change on the inside. Without stress, there would be no growth…no life. It is our inability to respond appropriately to these changes that cause disease.

The secret to abundant health is not the elimination of stress, but the development of our ability to respond appropriately and adapt to these changes.

Spirit – Connecting with Our Creative Source

I DON’T HAVE A MINUTE TO BREATHE!!!

The other day I was talking with someone who shared with me how stress-ful her life was. She said, "I am so busy, I don’t have minute to breathe." At first I thought, "How sad," but then I began to look back and think how many times I felt that way. Perhaps you are also familiar with that feeling.

A long time ago, I learned that it is through the breath that we reduce stress, access creative and expand time. By taking time each day to sit quietly and breath deep, even for a minute, we begin to distress, clear our minds, and rejuvenate our bodies.

I suggested to her to find 1 minute each day to do nothing but breathe. She called me today and told me that it has made a world of difference. I make the same suggestion to you.

Relationships – The Chemistry of Life

Be The Change You Wish to See in Others

These words said by Ghandi changed my life. I used to look at the world and complain about the ignorance and indifference I would see in others. I would complain about crime, war, pollution, corruption, abuse, etc…until I read these words.

I then made the commitment to be the person that I would like to have everyone be. Through being a person who is honest, loving, free, peaceful and joyful, I began to attract such people into my life.

The healing of the world begins with the healing of the individual.

Society - Making A Difference

The Kids Ecology Corp

The KEC Mission
Inspire young people to make environmental action part of their everyday life and generate by the year 2012 a critical mass of people to create Environmental Harmony throughout the world.

What is critical mass?
Critical mass refers to the enormous energy generated when many people align their thoughts and actions toward a specific goal. Before long this focus brings about a systemic shift in attitude and action. What was impossible becomes a fresh opportunity.

Why 2012?
Scientists and international leaders, many of whom attended the 1997 United Nations Global Warming Conference, agree that the year 2012 is a crucial time for the environment. These experts concur that we must make changes now, if we are to survive and have a sustainable future.

What is environmental harmony?
Environmental Harmony is the healthy balance between man and earth's universal ecosystems. This balance insures the earth's ability to naturally renewal its resources and offers us an abundant economy and a healthy, sustainable future.

Kids making the difference!
Once young people learn accurate information about their environment and how they influence it; and once they realize that they are the most important people on the planet, they take positive action to shape their own healthy and abundant futures. Empowered with this knowledge, KEC members experience increased self-esteem and feelings of accomplishment, while learning what a difference one person can make.

Prosperity – The Flow of Abundance

An Attitude of Gratitude

The greatest way to attract that which you desire is through an attitude of gratitude. Create an image of that which you want to create in your mind. With this image in mind, express gratitude for it as if it already exists. Do this everyday and you will be amazed how all your desires will begin to flow to you and through you.

Life Purpose – Discovering your Unique Gifts

Being VS. Doing

We are taught that if we want to be happy, then we must have certain things. And in order to have certain things, we must do certain things. For example, I am going to work hard, so that I can make lots of money…and then I’ll be happy.

I suggest a different…and more effective approach. Your doing is an express of who are…not the other way around. And it is through who you are that you attract to yourself the circumstances in your life. Therefore, choose to be happy. Express yourself through this joy and you will begin to attract to you all that you desire.

Try this exercise:

      1) Take an hour to write down everything you want do or have. Go wild. Write down everything…even if it seems silly. The helicopter. The trip to Bangladesh. Whatever comes to mind, write it down.

      2) Go through this list and pick out the top ten that you would like to receive in the next year and write them down on a separate sheet of paper.

      3) Looking at these ten things, write down the attributes or characteristics of the type of person who would have and do these things. For example, confident, abundant, enthusiastic and happy.

      4) Again, write down the top ten that attract you.

      5) Then rewrite them with "I am…" before them. For example, "I am confident. I am abundant…"

      6) Start to read these aloud every day and be them.

      7) Watch the ten things on the other list begin to manifest in your life.

Body – Secrets to Abundant Health

Is the Deficiency of Aspirin the Cause of Disease?

Is the absence of the aspirin the cause of headaches? If our headache is not caused by the deficiency of aspirin or acetominopen or any other pain reliever, why do we think that the taking of these things is the solution.?

Pain is a signal from the body either alerting us to an adverse change in our environment or alerting us to a need for change.  Ultimately, it is the body indicating a body part that has become separate!  By taking a pain reliever to make pain go away is removing the signal without looking at the cause of the separation.  It would be like cutting the wire to the oil light in the car.  It may make the "pain" go away, but eventually the car will break down.  When we take drugs of this nature, we are fighting a false cause...and over time it will cause the "car" to break down.

There are 2 drug-free solutions to pain.  They are not either/or. It is imperative to do both.

Solution 1:  Rather than take the drug to make the pain go away, ask yourself this question, "What is my body trying to tell me? What can I do to support it?"  Perhaps you need to change your diet.  Perhaps you need to change your job.  Only you will know the answer.  Trust the answer that comes to you.

Solution 2:  Close your eyes.  Put your complete attention on the body part that hurts.  Breathe into the part and completely allow yourself to feel what's present...without try to change, fix or alleviate the problem.  This will be uncomfortable at first, but stick with it.  By acknowledging the part and giving it attention, the body knows that its signal has been heard and the pain will begin to subside.

    QUESTION OF THE WEEK

Question:  Hi. I just received your newsletter. Great information for me & my loved ones. Do you have a list of grains that are gluten free?  Rox.

    Hello Roxy,

Thank you for your question...I will include it in the next newsletter.

I am actually going to answer the opposite question:  What are the grains with gluten?

Wheat, Rye, Oats, Buckwheat and Barley.  All others are gluten-free such as Quinoa, Spelt, Amaranth, Millet, Rice and Corn.  A great book is Good Food, Gluten Free by Hilda Cherry Hills.
Click here to order from Amazon.com.

FYI: Gluten is a protein found in the above mentioned grains which some individuals have difficulty digesting.  It has been known to cause digestive difficulty, allergies, diabetes, skin disease, multiple sclerosis, schizophrenia, arthritis and autism.  By eliminating foods that contain gluten, many of these challenges have been eliminated.

Mind – The Mirror of Our World

    Who is John Galt?

This is the famous first line in the book Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand.  I am in the last 300 pages of this 1200 page book and I felt I needed to share it with you.  It is a fantastic book about how our values and principles create the circumstances in our lives.  The story is of the relationships of a few of the nation's most important industrialists - the steel producer, the railroad heiress, the oil billionaire, the copper miner, etc.  Due to laws passed by the government to regulate production and profit, these "prime movers" of our society decide to go on strike and disappear, leaving the country in ruins.  Upon this stage of federal policy and national crisis, the real story lies within the mind of each individual and the trials and triumphs they each experience.

I would like to share a quote that I feel sums up this book:

"We are those who do not disconnect the values of their minds from the actions of their bodies, those who do not leave their values to empty dreams, but bring them into existence, those who give material form to thoughts and reality to values -- those who make steel, railroads and happiness."

Spirit – Connecting with Our Creative Source

Are we the Victim or Creator of our Circumstance?

Many times we look at our life and the circumstances that surround us and ask ourselves, "Why me?  Why do these things always happen to me?"  We feel a victim to the circumstances in our life.

I am going to share a secret. (Dr. Barry looks over both shoulders to make sure nobody's listening, and whispers in your ear.)

    "You created it."

Your current present is the result of every thought, word and action you have imagined, said and done up until now.  We often look at our circumstances and wonder how we can change them by focusing on them.

We cannot change our current circumstances  in the present 'now', because it was created by our past thoughts, words and action.  But we can change our future 'now', by changing our thoughts, words and actions in the present.

How do we do that?  Create a vision in your mind of the ideal circumstance and begin to think, speak and act as if it already exists with gratitude, faith and purpose!  And it will come to be.

    Relationships – CONTEST

THE WINNER OF THE BELOW JUDGED CONTEST WILL WIN A FREE TAPE, "YOU DESERVE THE GIFT OF HEALTH."

    What Would You Do?

Imagine you are living in a beautiful neighborhood.  It's quiet.  It's peaceful.  There are beautiful trees and flowers everywhere.  You are in heaven.  One day a new neighbor moves into the townhouse next door.  At first, he seems to be a nice enough guy.  You talk.  You learn a lot about each other.  You become friends.

One day he brings home a new free standing basketball hoop.  The neighborhoods kids play everyday.  And you notice that the ball is consistently bouncing off your car.  You tell him about it and he moves the hoop. You're happy.

A few weeks later, he puts a new very bass-y stereo in his truck.  Every night you here this loud booming rattling the walls of your home and the dishes in your cupboard.  You ask him to lower the stereo.  He does, but he's not happy.

A few weeks later, he brings home two pit bull puppies.  Their cute.  Their playful.  You love the new puppies.  After some time, you realize their getting bigger...uglier...not as playful.  One day, your neighbor decides to move these large dogs onto his small porch in cages.  Every day and every night...they bark...and bark...and bark...all day...all night...You mention this to your neighbor...he laughs and does nothing.  Your are not happy.

Then one day you go out to get your mail and you notice one of these large...ugly...not so playful pit bulls standing next to your car...snarling.  It begins to run towards you.  You run away...  He runs faster.  Luckily you get to your door quick enough to escape.

That night you go next door to tell your neighbor and he replies, "He is a cute...playful...dog.  He would never do that to anyone."  He turns his back and walks away, shutting his front door behind him.  You are angry.

The dogs continue to bark...and your neighbor gets a new girlfriend and every night you hear on your wall, "Knock...knock...knock...knock...knock...knock..." You get the idea.  You are outright steamed.

So now your beautiful, quiet, peaceful home has become a bass-filled, wall-knocking, dog barking zoo, with a neighbor who doesn't want to hear a word you have to say.

So here's the challenge...What would you do?  The one rule - the action must be done from a place of love.

All replies can be sent to contest@placeforhealing.com

PS.  Unless your wondering...yes...this is my neighbor.  (Smile.)

    The World Wildlife Fund

In 1961, a group of scientists, naturalists, and business and political leaders founded World Wildlife Fund (WWF) as an international fund-raising organization that would collaborate with existing conservation groups to bring substantial financial support to worldwide conservation efforts. Today, WWF is the leading privately supported international conservation organization in the world.

Our mission is the conservation of nature. Our work is driven by a passion for the natural world, grounded in science, and shaped by an understanding that addressing human needs is critical to successful long-term conservation. To meet this challenge, we employ methods that are as varied as the challenge demands-from creating and strengthening parks and protected areas to weaving conservation into the fabric of local economic development, from protecting endangered species to influencing global environmental policies.

WWF is the U.S. affiliate of the international WWF network, which has national organizations or representatives in more than 50 countries and works in more than 100 countries. This worldwide presence, supported by more than 1 million members in the United States, has made it possible to sponsor more than 2,000 projects in 116 countries.

    The 10%/20% Path to Abundance

In order to have a successful journey, it is important to have a destination.  And, in order to reach the destination, there must be something there that draws you to it. (The carrot and the stick).  In life, we call that destination a goal.  As Steven Covey says, "A Goal is nothing but a Dream with a deadline."

I have been using a process for the last 5 years that has caused me to achieve every goal I have set for myself.  I call it the 10%/20% Path to Abundance and I wish to share it with you.

Let's say you have a financial goal to make $5000 or more per month.  The process is simply this.  When you have reached within 10% of your goal ($4500)...celebrate.  You got an 'A'!  Express Gratitude for the Goal has been reached.

    Now...and raise your goal by adding 20% ($4500 x 1.2 = $5400).  Do the same thing. When you get within 10% ($4900 - always round up)..celebrate...raise 20%.

This process can be used for any type of goal, not only financial.  It has been very successful for me and I wish the same success for you!

    The Big Rocks

"A while back I was reading about an expert on the subject of time management. One day this expert was speaking to a group of business students and, to drive home a point, used an illustration I'm sure those students will never forget. After I share it with you, you'll never forget it either.

As this man stood in front of the group of high-powered overachievers he said, "Okay, time for a quiz." Then he pulled out a one-gallon, wide-mouthed mason jar and set it on a table in front of him. Then he produced about a dozen fist-sized rocks and carefully placed them, one at a time, into the jar.

When the jar was filled to the top and no more rocks would fit inside, he asked, "Is this jar full?"

Everyone in the class said, "Yes."

Then he said, "Really?" He reached under the table and pulled out a bucket of gravel. Then he dumped some gravel in and shook the jar causing pieces of gravel to work themselves down into the spaces between the big rocks.

Then he smiled and asked the group once more, "Is the jar full?" By this time the class was onto him. "Probably not," one of them answered.

"Good!" he replied. And he reached under the table and brought out a bucket of sand. He started dumping the sand in and it went into all the spaces left between the rocks and the gravel. Once more he asked the question, "Is this jar full?"

"No!" the class shouted. Once again he said, "Good!" Then he grabbed a pitcher of water and began to pour it in until the jar was filled to the brim. Then he looked up at the class and asked, "What is the point of this illustration?"

One eager beaver raised his hand and said, "The point is, no matter how full your schedule is, if you try really hard, you can always fit some more things into it!"

"No," the speaker replied, "that's not the point. The truth this illustration teaches us is: If you don't put the big rocks in first, you'll never get them in at all."

The title of this letter is The "Big Rocks" of Life. What are the big rocks in your life? A project that YOU want to accomplish? Time with your loved ones? Your faith, your education, your finances? A cause? Teaching or mentoring others?

Remember to put these BIG ROCKS in first or you'll never get them in at all."
